‘Kuruvi’ flies high

Vijay starrer ‘Kuruvi’ has managed a 150-day run across theatres in Tamilnadu. Produced by Udhayanidhi Stalin and directed by Dharani, the movie featuring Vijay, Trisha and Suman in the lead roles, witnessed mixed reviews at the box office.
However, thanks to the racy script and Vijay's popularity among the masses, the movie opened big and gradually settled down to do a decent business at the box office.
The cast and crew thanked the film-buffs for helping the movie complete a 150-day run. According to director Dharani, "I thank the producer Udhayanidhi Stalin, actor Vijay and the rest of my crew for the successes”.
Post ‘Gilli’, Vijay-Dharani-Trisha and music composer Vidyasagar tag teamed for 'Kuruvi'. Fortunately, they succeeded in their attempt.

'Kadhalil Vizhunthen' sweeps the box office

With just three days of its release, 'Kadhalil Vizhiunthen' has made a bumper collection across the State. Though it has not been released in Madurai (allegedly due to political reasons), the movie has witnessed a fantastic opening in Chennai, Salem, Coimbatore and several other centers.
Directed by debutant Prasad, the movie has hit the bull's eye thanks to the catchy and peppy number 'Nakku Mukka'. Also the initial reviews and word-of-mouth publicity for the movie has been encouraging and draws a mass number of audience to the theatres.
Nakul's bold performance and Sunaina's good portrayal has won the approval of the audience. In Chennai, all the shows for the week-end witnessed packed houses. Thanking the audience, director Prasad says,"We feel elated to see the movie witnessing good crowds. Our hard work for over a year has been rightly rewarded. I thank my whole cast and crew for making the movie a big success".
The movie is produced by Umapathy and distributed by Sun Pictures. According to industry men, the good run of 'Kadhalil Vizhunthen' has sent positive signals to the whole industry.
A movie with lesser known star cast and a new director has gone on to become a big hit. It renders courage to aspiring film-makers and young actors.

The Tragedy

The Tsunami wave hit so bad that people split without a tag, No mother nor father to depend upon, Neither a brother or sisterto hang on to, We need to give them ahelping hand, Like whole-hearted members of a band. There are no beggars to beg theri clothes, scattered like rags on a peg, The existing victims lost faith in the saviour can victim realize or rationalise for the Lord, always has a plan which we can never scan. Many souls to brood over, taken away too soon forever. It couldn't be prevented by man since it was unexpected on land an unbelievable attack that took away, thousands of dear ones astray.

India has the edge over Australia: Kumble

Vadodara: Exuding confidence ahead of the coming Test series, captain Anil Kumble said his team has its best chance of turning the tables on an inexperienced Australian side.''Last year, we came close to equal, if not win, the Test series in Australia and in 2004 we lost the Chennai Test on the last day because of rain,'' Kumble, who is here leading the Rest of India side in an Irani Cup tie against Delhi, said yesterday. ''But this time I think we have got a brilliant opportunity.''This Australian side is low on experience.''I think our vast experience and skill will be our advantage and we have to back it with the right result at the end of the series.''All players had adequate rest and the perfect preparation for such a series and we are looking forward to it.'' Kumble said inconsistent performances against other nations, including a series loss earlier this year in Sri Lanka, would not be an obstacle to his players lifting themselves when faced by Ricky Ponting and company.''Sri Lanka was one-off series in which our batters didn't perform well, but against Australia the middle order has done exceptionally well and I'm expecting it to be no exception this time too,'' Kumble said.''They are players who have handled pressure throughout their career. It's a phase that everyone goes through and I believe it's over.''The results we got in the last 10-12 years are thanks to these people.'' Master blaster Sachin Tendulkar is missing the Irani Cup match to rest his elbow and Kumble said the little master would be fit in time to join the Indian camp when it reaches Bangalore ahead of the first Test next month.''Sachin needed time to get 100 per cent fit for the Test series. He is a great player and has done exceptionally well against Australia. The most important thing was to allow him get to that 100 per cent,'' he said.''I'm sure he would join the Bangalore camp ahead of the Test series,'' he added.
